BROKEN BRIGHT

There is hope.

For years Annemette was unable to visit or communicate with her younger sister, Sophie, because of the illness ME (myalgic encephalomyelitis) also known as chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). A neurological, auto-immune, multi-systemic illness that kept her bed bound in a dark room most of the time with little to no treatment available.

What do you do when you feel like your sister is turning into a living ghost? When society and the healthcare system doesn’t really seem to care about thousands of people lying in their beds for years, living their lives in the shadows without much hope of getting better? When doctors mistreat you, only making it worse? What do you do?

A point came when they decided to make this song and video to spread awareness of this reality that frighteningly many people find themselves in. Sophie had already written the words, Annemette wrote the music. A year ago they then filmed Sophie in her room at her mother's apartment. At that time she couldn’t do much and had been more or less bed bound for nearly six years (!) - this still seems incomprehensible.

Thankfully a lot has happened since then, Sophie took a leap of faith, paid a lot of her savings, (which she was fortunate enough to have) to experts in Canada and is now getting the proper treatment. She is healing, she can stay in the sun again. Needless to say that this makes the whole family beyond happy.

So unexpectedly and wonderfully, this video has turned out to be a true story of hope and wisdom. In the end Sophie has written an important and wise message from her new state of being.
